“When eating fruit, remember the one who planted the tree.”- Vietnamese Proverb

When I write these blog posts, they are not just something I sit & think about within a hour window. Throughout the week I either experience, read or see something that I cannot get out of my head, so the best way for me to express myself is mumbling away to my keyboard & to you (if you don't like my mumbling then why are you still reading... ;D) Throughout this week the subject of the 'Domino Effect' has played a massive part in my thoughts, with our current geopolitical situation it is an unsettling time to see this happening for real. I began to write about the 'Domino Effect' but halfway through writing I found the post to not be what was truly on my mind, I can waffle on about the politics and behavioural attributes that we all share that aline with our response to the domino effect but this has been done too many times, we all know that with an action there is a reaction, this is simple knowledge the question is, how do we go about controlling the reaction? Within this moment I have the overwhelming feeling of being grateful. Our lives are so fragile and it is evident in todays world just how quickly your everyday can be changed by one action.

Daily occurrences happen, some we don't even notice & some stay with us for a lifetime, this week I was fortunate enough to see Steven Bartletts Diary Of A CEO live and this is a moment in my life that I'am extremely grateful for getting the chance to see. An emotional night to say the least but also a night full of laughter and shared ambition, but what hit me most was the overwhelming sense of being grateful, grateful to have the opportunity to witness a room full of people coming together to share a moment & experience that no matter what will stick with all of us for a lifetime. One of the key moments during the performance spoke to me on another level...a moment about gratitude. I think I can count the number of times I have honestly sat there and gone "You know what, I'm in a good place, shit I've worked hard and i'm no where near done" on one hand. How many of us can truly say that each day we give ourselves that pat on the back, a moment of still to really and truly understand where you have come from to where you are, can you remember the last time you did?

Rewind the clocks a year, I was in between jobs struggling to get a grasp on life and frustrated that I wasn't where I wanted to be, I knew I had a lot to give and the experience to push myself further, I was in a depressive state feeling that life and everything around me was after me or trying to catch me out. Little did I know it was my viewpoint ruining where I wanted to be, once I stopped stressing and just accepted where I was then good things started to come my way in terms of career progression and my health. The everyday stress I would put on myself about thinking I should be so far ahead from where I am disappeared and my mental & physical health improved. I started to be grateful for the everyday, the opportunity to get up and tackle each task, challenge or opportunity life was going to throw at me. It has taken the words of someone who has been through this journey and still continues to be to show me that in life we have to allow ourselves to be grateful, as within this moment we truly understand just what we are made of. We understand what we can go through in order to get to where we want to be. We all talk about the destination and success but when do we talk about the small moments, the moments of solitude and gratitude. We all should be proud of where we came from to where we are today, not only does it show progress but it also shows just how determined you are, how you will never give up no matter what gets thrown at you.

Celebrate you & take in everything about that moment, it is normal as a human being to always want more & Steven spoke about this in his book and during the live event... he states that people always want 3x more then what they have now, we all have goals and targets we want to hit but what do we do when we have met these goals? This can be a confusing & misunderstanding moment but what I can say is that hopefully after reading this post you will not feel down or have a lack of fulfilment when you do reach said goals. Instead enjoy the moment be grateful that you got there and set yourself up for your next challenge.

"In moments of still we find ourselves at our most venerable, we either let the negative emotions take over or we celebrate the everyday victories, remember it is you vs you no one else. Be grateful for what you have a achieved, life is not a comparison site & we all have our journey, we understand how fragile and temporary it can be so add a little gratitude to your everyday & enjoy it, because at the end of the day...You deserve it"

Thanks

T.
