Unity.
In light of everything that has happened in the past 24 hours but has socially been an ongoing subject for generations 3 young talented and inspirational footballers took on the responsibility that no one would ever want to volunteer for or be in that situation unless you have the underlying determination and passion to lift the hearts of a nation and go down in history. Which for many they would not take on this role. A team that has stood up against racism and equality even with their own fans booing at them and their own leaders disagreeing with their choice to take the knee I find it a true testament to the team spirit that the England squad has shown over the past few weeks. They have united a nation in a time of uncertainty but known behold when things don't have that fairy tale ending we all pictured, the real side of England and the struggles these lads have had their entire lives comes to the spotlight. A journey of hope, strength, unity & representation ruined with the mindset of a small majority that are loud and seen and quite frankly embarrassing.
Last night I witnessed an emotional shift and reaction not only in the pub I was watching the final but also in the online world , 120 minutes of football displayed a nation joined at the hip cheering the boys on and after the result the real England showed its true colours. Out popped the racist and keyboard warriors who have done nothing with their lives but go down the local job centre and take help from everyone but not help themselves or accepted help of those they are targeting with their racist slurghs and comments. For a moment we had what the team have been displaying for so long, a unity of players representing their country at an international level, a team that represents the places we've grown up in our neighbours from all over the world who have the right to call the UK their home. A nation without this mass immigration would be on its knees. This team has not only shone light on how diverse and cultural the UK is but it has also allowed us to see the ongoing social issues that people face on a daily basis.
In a year where we have been so split as a country and distant from one another these men brought hope, passion and unity to a country quite frankly on its knees these men have done more for this country in a year then the people in power. They have been role models for the next generation and even those before them, they bring together a community of all colours a community that has young sensitive future stars looking up to them as role models, they do not need the fear of their skin colour or religion to be an issue preventing them from fully becoming who they are. They will not be silent and I for one will stand with my fellow neighbours from around the world as a team and as a country we need to stand up, our leaders have to hold these people accountable for their actions, these platforms also have to their part in finding those who sit behind a screen and ruin a step in the right direction. I feel after the actions of some in the past 24 hours we have taken yet another step back and something needs to be done. So if you see a petition, if you see someone being racially abused stand with them, pick them up when they're down and fight for your neighbours and fight for those who represent our country on a international platform. We as a nation have duty to take care of our own.
Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka should be proud and continue their journey and keep fighting for justice and equality and the entire squad, they have the backing of a nation and one day as a team we will stamp out racism. This is their home & they represent it with pride, honour & determination more then those hidden behind the screen will ever do. You may not have brought home the win but you brought home hope for thousands and that will have an everlasting impact, more than a piece of metal.
Keep your heads high Kings.
Thanks
T.
