“Don’t watch the clock; do what it does. Keep going.”Sam Levenson

Motivation has and always will be the constant battle we have with ourselves, there are days where all you want to do is sit on the sofa and endlessly watch Netflix or procrassinate yourself into a another world. I don't care how high up the chain of success you are and where you stand in terms of motivation there will not be a single day within the year where all you want to do is just say "fuck it". Motivation in terms of my work and health at the majority of times has been equally balanced however recently in terms of my training I have some what just been half hearting my workouts and just doing it to get by with no real ambition or goal setting. I have done 2 bodybuilding shows and no just how strict and far I can take training and I know I can bury myself in sessions to the point where I'm in physical and mental pain and just a write off. In recent weeks this aggressive and go get it attitude have somewhat not been there. As my work load has got heavier and my side business is picking up and momentum is moving I feel I have lost that balance, that control over my motivation and struggle to find a neutral ground between my health and work. In the past 2 weeks I have decided to start following a structured diet again and set my alarm earlier so I'm up and ready for the gym, as simple as this sounds your body reacts positively once it has had time to wake up stretch and get going. My workload is exciting for me I love that every night I have work to do on my digital content business and I feel that fire and excitement I had for training has now transferred over to my work, which isn't a bad thing but the motivation has to be shared between them both.

To over come this like stated I have now started a stricter diet as nutrition is not only key for aesthetics but for your brain which is the heart of all your motivation, feed it well and it will grow strong and not break under pressure. I have set goals for training and have re opened my log book to track my progress. There are nights where sitting in front of a computer screen till midnight or even later seems like a daunting task but this was inline with bad habits in terms of more junk food, drinking excessive coffee and having a shit attitude towards it. I have this sort of mental stand off with my inner self, I use to contemplate a night in front of the TV after work but now I just say "30 minutes" & by doing this I take the pressure away from the lazy person inside of me as he sort of agrees that 30 minutes is enough time and then the lazy guy will get attention after that, but this is not the case, just like my blog posts once I get writing I get the flavour and ambition that spark that really enjoys doing what I'm doing. So next time you are torn between countless episodes on Netflix or working on your side hustle, just start with committing a small amount of time and before you know it hours have passed and you are in a better position. They say that 1 day of procrastinating can ruin a month of hard work, I completely agree with this! You have to show up to switch up. Like I always say I'm not perfect and no one is, you can't be performing at 100% everyday so don't be so hard on yourself no matter what the effort is just get doing, keep moving & keep going.

Tierneys Top Tip- Motivation grows from switching up, stepping outside of your comfort zone, making goals, having a vision, keeping a balanced mindset & most of all being healthy. Don't let the lazy person inside of you consume your motivation, you will internally destroy someone who has the mindset to be who they want to be.

Thanks

T.

P.S. Shit that got deep...
