This is written down in my diary on my phone and for the life of me can't remember the source of the quote. But I'm sure its either from the latest book or podcast I listened to last. We all have different faces, different personas wether that is from small characteristic changes when around certain groups or even how we act alone as compared when in the company of others. We display as much as we are willing to certain people, not everyone sees the same version of you. This is a subconscious thing we all do to fit ourselves into certain groups and lifestyles, which is a normal social structure. We have groups that make up our society in terms of chavs, goths, ibiza goers, hipsters, gym people, drinkers, sporty etc etc. The list can go on and on the point being that why as people do we feel the need to have to fit into one particular social group or diversify ourselves in order to be appreciated by different friendship circles? I believe this comes down to a lack of confidence and understanding who you are as a person, we confuse this feeling with calling it "stages" or its a "phase" no this is a vital journey to understanding one self however some people get caught up and comfortable at different parts and then become part of a wider social group that does not fully represent who they are and who they are meant to be.
I fell guilty to this and it has not been until recently when I have grew in confidence to just start being me, I make mistakes, I'm far from perfect but I'am now no longer scared to display to real me onto the online world. I have started to Vlog my new business venture and bring a character to my business rather than being behind the lens. I have stopped worrying about what people will think as I know there are those that will be saying "who does he think he is" blah blah blah haha but who cares, no one got anywhere by staying in the same lane. Exposing myself and just create content on a daily basis has increased traffic onto my pages but also increased the thought process and creative spark back into my work. Although I'm not happy with where I am at currently, become complacent is probably one of the most damaging things that can happen to an entrepreneur especially in the early stages. This sounds arrogant but in order to pursue a good business I look for more negatives about my work than positives as these are all things I can improve on.
Tierneys Top Tip- Step outside your comfort zone, stop being another addition to an already crowded social group, find yourself and your passion and the rest will fall into place with hardworking and consistency, nothing is ever given.
Thanks
T.
